What’s the hurry?

The usual complaint, of course, is that governments are legislating too much. But, as always, normal standards are readily contorted to accommodate the needs of the British state’s relentlessly grinding anti-SNP propaganda machine.

What is it that is being suggested here? Are the British parties in Scotland really insisting that the Scottish Government introduce legislation just to meet some doubtless endlessly shifting quota defined by them? Are they demanding that the SNP administration bring forward Bills without proper preparation and consultation just so they can then condemn the lack of preparation and consultation?

Are the British parties genuinely unaware of the extent to which the EU referendum altered the political landscape subsequent to the Holyrood elections? Or is just that they think the rest of us are too stupid to have realised how much things have changed since May? (That’s both the month and the UK Prime Minister without a mandate.)

And what about the laughable attempt to lend this nonsense some spurious authority by referring to “research conducted by Ruth Davidson’s party”? How much “research” was involved? All the information is right there on the Scottish Government website! Once again we find the British media happy to make itself look ridiculous in the name of defending the ruling elites of the British state.

When the British parties are attacking the SNP’s record in some area you can be sure it’s because they are looking to divert attention from the truth. The truth in this case is the most legislation in any year since the Scottish Parliament reconvened.
